Did you know that YouTube has more than 1 billion users? “YouTuber” is word that is becoming more and more popular with today’s generations.
A “YouTuber” is a content creator on the YouTube website, meaning they post videos and share them with worldwide audiences. It’s more and more common to find someone who posts these videos on the site. Even kids are doing it!
YouTube was created in 2005 and is still an on-going website where people share videos throughout their lives.
There are many types of YouTubers, such as vloggers (people who video blog their lives), and beauty gurus (people who post videos with tutorials on beauty products). There are comedy channels, film channels and even collaboration channels (where a group of people gather together to film a video.)
Becoming a YouTuber is quite simple. You just need a Google+ account and then can start uploading on YouTube.com!
Popular YouTube videos include pranks, tutorials and films, along with vlogs (video blogs) of peoples’ lives.
Many popular YouTubers such as Tyler Oakley, Troye Sivan, Joey Graceffa and Connor Franta are even coming out of the closet on YouTube, leaving YouTube viewers in tears with their emotional video uploads.
YouTube is a great place for “how-to’s” videos and tutorials, along with funny uploads of cats and people alike, leaving people hysterically laughing for a good fifteen minutes.
Most YouTubers live in two places: L.A. or the U.K. but there are content creators scattered around the world. A lot of content creators get paid to post videos on YouTube and even get paid to travel the world and film things for their viewers!
A lot of YouTubers have also encouraged people to never give up and to not self-harm or to not commit suicide, and the viewers listen to their idols.
Danisnotonfire (aka Dan Howell, YouTuber) speaks the truth about his problems and encourages everyone to support each other in the comments sections of videos posted on YouTube. He says, “You are a human with one life and it’s up to you to make it the best life you can. Do what you do to be happy. Don’t change for anyone.” Dan’s best friend, Phil Lester (AmazingPhil) says he agrees with Dan and says, “Just know; it will get better.”
Connor Franta, who recently came out on YouTube as gay, says, “One thing that seems hard for people to do nowadays is love themselves. I feel like our generation is just so obsessed with the idea of perfection and we don’t need to be.”
These YouTubers are just a handful of content creators that speak up about the world’s problems. They all have one goal in common: Make the world a better place for all.
